“God Will Take Care of You” was written in 1904 and has quite an interesting story.

Civilla Durfee Martin was a schoolteacher with simple musical experience. She and her husband, Walter Stillman Martin, often wrote gospel songs for revival meetings.
The Martins were guests at the Practical Bible Training School in Lestershire, New York. Mr. Martin was helping the principal put together a songbook.
One day, Mr. Martin was supposed to go preach at a church some distance from the school. Mrs. Martin wasn’t feeling well, and he thought about canceling and staying home to take care of her. Their nine year-old son piped up at this point. “Don’t you think God will take care of her?”
Walter Martin preached that day and returned that evening to find his wife much improved. In fact, while he had been gone, she prepared a new text that was inspired by their sonโs statement just before her husband left that morning. Before retiring to bed that evening, Walter wrote the music to his wifeโs text. He sat down at the organ and within an hour composed the music.
Later that same evening, a couple of the teachers came by and they sang the hymn. Later in the week, it was sung at a school assembly and then added to the songbook.

The hymn assures us that God will take care of our needs. We need not be dismayed, because โGod will take care of you.โ We have all been dismayedโin some cases, often. We all toil with no guarantee of a reward. All of us have needs that we can see no way of filling. The chorus to this hymn encourages us to ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐. It promises:
God will take care of you,
Through every day, oโer all the way;
He will take care of you,
๐๐จ๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ญ๐๐ค๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ.
And so ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ.
