Wonderful Grace of Jesus

“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”

 

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱

Mr. Haldor Lillenas, born in 1885, Norway, was a music enthusiast and a pastor. He had written various gospel songs and had his own publishing house. In 1917, a time when he and his wife were about to complete building their own home, 𝗽𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. Regardless of the situation, 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗿’𝘀, in his 𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 for 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗱, he wanted to purchase his neighborhood’s 𝗽𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟱 𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀. Yet, it was not possible at that moment. 

 

Eventually, he sold one of his hymns which was composed, “Wonderful Grace of Jesus.” This hymn cost 5 dollars and was sufficient to pay for the organ.

 

The hymn is written and played in an upbeat tune to lift spirits and to bring a sense of awe of God’s matchless grace. Yet, Lillenas warned, not to play the hymn too fast that could draw the focus out on God’s wonderful grace.

 

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲?

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul wrote, And He said unto me “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” How powerful could it be that the 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐝 would be 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡? It is greater than the sins we have, higher than the skies above, wider than the universe we are at, and deeper than the core of this earth. Words are not enough to describe His grace extended to us. Grace is for everyone.

 

May we be of good cheer for God’s grace will never fail.
